Congratulations to the Lovett Lady Lions basketball team for winning the Region 5 Championship!
I have a long history with the Lovett Lady Lions because daughter India played on the team throughout junior high and high school. At the end of the season of her senior year, I gave each of the 4 seniors a personalized version of the quilt shown above.
Since then my connection to the team has become stronger. India is now an assistant coach for the team! Life truly is a circle.
India reminded me recently that I never missed one of her games, (although I was infamous for quilting during the games LOL). I did not know that was important to her until now. It’s a good lesson for us highly driven successful people! You can’t get the years and the experiences back once they are gone.
Good luck in the State tournament Lady Lions! You make us proud! #ovsfulfilledlfebruary
Shown above is India’s Basketball Star, which I made to commemorate her basketball career at Lovett. She has continued her interest in basketball by serving as a student manager of the women’s basketball team at the University of Pittsburgh. This quilt goes on every road trip.
The second quilt that enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh with India is India’s Basketball Star. Basketball was a big part of India’s life while in high school at the Lovett School. She, along with the three other seniors who received similar quilts, received this quilt at the end of the season party.
At the University of Pittsburgh, India hopes to become a manager for the girls basketball team during her sophomore year. Basketball remains dear to her heart.
Maxine Moore did the embroidery and the quilting on this quilt.
I was thrilled to learn recently that Kat’s Basketball Star has matriculated at the Univeristy of Alabama. Here she is all settled into her dorm room. When you give a quilt to someone, you never know where it will end up. Ending up at college is a great thing.
Regular readers will remember that this quilt was a gift for Kat Feuer.
India’s Basketball Star was a gift for my daughter India Brantley, a graduating senior on the Lady Lovett Lion basketball team.
The beautiful quilting and the embroidery on each of the senior basketball quilts was done by Maxine Moore. The label on the back of each quilt has a picture of the team and the names of the players and coaches, making the quilt a lasting keepsake.
Gonna Be a Starwas a gift for the son of Assistant Lovett Lady Lion Coach Mareka Howard. Que attended most of our games, and he never seemed to mind being fawned over by lots of players and Moms of players.
Que sleeps and breathes basketball, so I cannot imagine that he won’t grow up to be a star.
