Today India and I visited a coffee farm. This farm sells the famous Kopi Luwak, coffee made from cat poop.
Yes, I had a cup, and bought some to take home. Apparently it has many medicinal qualities.
We tested many other varieties of tea and coffee and learned a lot about how the beans are grown and harvested, but cat poop coffee was the star of the show. I did not have cat poop in mind when I made my quilt I Love Strong Coffee, but it seems to fit the experience

India and I are leaving for one of our magnificent adventures tomorrow. We are headed to Bali Indonesia with a stop in Los Angeles. We love traveling, and we are determined to see as much of the world as we possibly can.
Can you say happy dance?! #ovsoctober #bali #brantleybonvoyage
I am still basking in the glow of Boss’s Day. My staff went out of their way to express their love and appreciate for me and the learning environment I create for them. It was one of those days when it is crystal clear how lucky I am to live the life I live.
Today was the day when my staff covers me with love and appreciation. Today was Boss’s Day in the DeKalb County Law Department.
We always have food, and for me, there is always a special gift that blows me away.
This year the gift was a pair of red RayBan sunglasses, purchased in Italy, so they could be engraved with our office motto: “Joy and Gratitude.” Who knew you could get sunglasses engraved?! (Apparently you can if you buy them in Italy). I was blown away, and I cried and cried tears of joy.
I am so grateful to be the leader of such an amazing group of people. I love my staff. #ovsoctober #dekalblaw #alifeofsimpleabundance #joyandgratitude
P.S. If you are wondering why sunglasses in October, it is because I am leaving for a vacation in Bali next week! To quote a famous song, “life is so bright, I have to wear shades.”
I spent today with my closest quilting friends. We have been working on the Passacaglia quilt since January, and today was our monthly gathering date. I decided to do mine in red and white rather than the colorful ones you may have seen in shows and online
Since the quilt is pieced entirely by hand, there is plenty of time for conversation. It feels like the quilting bee of years gone by.
It feels good to slow down. #ovsoctober #handquilting #passacagliaquilt #slowdown
We lost our beloved Justin last year. We buried him wrapped in his quilt in the backyard within view of my kitchen window. Justin loved quilts, and he always had one that he dragged everywhere he went. Sometimes he would leave his quilt in the yard and forget where he left it. India or I would, of course, have to mount a search for Justin’s quilt.
Justin was my constant companion while I quilted, but he preferred finished quilts — and tummy rubs.
When I saw Garden Art For the Soul online, I knew it was the perfect marker for Justin’s grave. I don’t really have a garden anyway. I fell in love with this piece for obvious reasons, but they have several beautiful pieces.
So today, I took a quiet moment to remember my fur grandson, and I placed this beautiful piece of art at his gravesite. I know he loves it. #ovsoctober #justinbrantley #alifeofsimpleabundance #gardenartforthesoul
